NCSU CHP Utility Tool
Did you know NC State University is planning to build a new power plant!? Do you now find yourself as a student, parent, or even state taxpayer, immediately envisioning the average 60% of heat waste created from burning fossil fuels for energy production? Well ask no more, for heat waste is anything but waste with NCSU’s new project: the Combined Heat Power (CHP) Plant. Upon project completion, this plant is expected to improve power production efficiency by almost 40% and reduce emissions by nearly 10%! NCSU’s Office of Sustainability has partnered with Springleaf Strategies and Brasco Marketing to successfully develop an outstanding interactive map to be used by the public. With the use of this “CHP Utility Tool,” viewers will not only have the ability to witness a visually interactive macro-view of how CHP is distributed throughout campus, but also a micro view of its waste-saving internal plant processes, as well.
